Tirana International Airport is located 25 kilometers outside Tirana, the capital of Albania, and is easily accessible through the Tirana - Durres motorway, a four-lane road that connects these two main Albanian cities.
Tirana International Airport is easily reachable by taxi. All the cities and urban areas of Albania provide taxi services. In the main cities visitors can appreciate the call-taxi service provided by a number of Albanian operators. Journey duration from Tirana to the airport is 30-45 minutes dependend on traffic. The taxi fee applied for a oneway journey costs about 2.000 Lek or 25 EUR.

We suggest our passengers to make use of licensed taxis when traveling to the airport. The airport taxis are parked in front of the terminal. They have yellow color and respective identifying signs.
Parking spaces are available on the left side of the existing access road to the airport and can be used by every passenger arriving or departing from the airport. The fee structure for the parking services are as follows:

Construction worksThe new passenger terminal (scheduled opening: spring 2007)
Construction of the airport’s new passenger terminal commenced in May 2005. The building, planned to meet international standards, is due to be finished by fall 2006 and is scheduled to be ready for operation from spring 2007. The new terminal will have a capacity of one million passengers per year, equivalent to an average handling capacity of 500 passengers an hour. The design will enable the capacity to be increased at a later date to three million passengers per year.
The new terminal is striking not only in terms of performance and functionality, but also on account of its grand design prepared by the Malaysian architect Hin Tan. The modern elegant terminal merges harmoniously with the green scenery of mountainous landscape, expressing prosperity and development, while the abundance of glass ensures transparency and provides an inviting atmosphere. Architecturally, the new terminal building satisfies the most sophisticated demands and thus makes a marked contribution to the urban transformation of Albania's capital city.
By now, all the foundation works for the main terminal building have been completed and so have the shell structures for the ancillary buildings. The steel framework for the terminal building has already been erected. Preliminary work on the electrical and mechanical installations has began.
