Korean Air opens new routes to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap international airports.
The inaugural flight of Korean Air landed at Phnom Penh airport on November 14 at 22:05. 139 passengers were on board of the B-737.
The carrier operates 4 weekly flights (Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday) between the capital city and Incheon. Weekly seats total 596.
On November 15, Korean Air is also launching, on the same basis as in Phnom Penh, a new liaison between Incheon and Siem Reap.
Weekly frequencies and seats, combined with those of the carrier Asiana, which started flying on the same route since 2005, will amount to respectively 12 and 1,128. Since the beginning of 2006, nearly 30% of the arrivals at Siem Reap international airport are made of passengers from South Korea.
Another testimony of the growing relations between the two nations will be reflected in the landing, for the first time ever in Cambodia, of Asiana’s wide-bodied B-747 aircraft on November 19.
The event will take place at Phnom Penh international airport. The flight is transporting a delegation led by South Korea’s President, which is visiting the Kingdom on the occasion of the launching of Angkor-Gyeongju World Culture Expo 2006 in Siem Reap.
