Drop Off Only Zone:
This service is now next to the current short term parking and is clearly signed posted. Users are encouraged to drop of passengers only in this area. It is not a parking zone or drop off zone and is monitored by Metro Police.
This service is available from 05:30 to 21:00 to and from the terminal. The shuttles take people to and from the parking areas south of the terminal. The shuttle service will soon be given a boost as 4 additional golf carts will be introduced to complement the 2 taxis and 3 golf carts. ACSA believes that with the co-operation and understanding of the public we will be able to achieve this. As much as the MSP is sometimes seen as a temporary inconvenience, the public should be patient and try and allow the people that are working in affected area to do their jobs.

Multi Storey Parkade Update at Durban International Airport
The construction of the 1st phase of the R90m multi storey parking (MSP) project at Durban International Airport (DIA) is in its second month of construction and is scheduled to be completed by August 2006. The project will then commence with the 2nd and 3rd phase with the completion of the project is scheduled for May 2007.
As was expected and was communicated, the available parking space has become a major concern. Due to the construction of the 1st Phase, about 270 parking bays were lost for the construction to continue. This situation also affected the current drop off only zone with a temporary drop off zone now available between the construction site and the short term parking.
To ensure that inconvenience to the users is minimised and with safety being a priority, Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) is trying it’s utmost to make the public aware by strategically erecting signage and realigned walkways to and from the terminal. To ensure the safety and security of airport users and their property, ACSA has together with WLS, SAPS and Khulani Security, increased its security resources, patrols, parking attendants, improved fencing and lighting in all public parking areas.
ACSA has placed parking attendants and security staff in the areas where, due to the constraints and challenges faced with available parking during certain peaks periods members of the public are forced to park in non-designated parking areas. ACSA admits that this project has come with its own unique challenges but is trying to do all possible to ensure vehicles are parked and that their vehicle is kept safe.
