The way to Dresden Airport is signposted from the motorways A4 and A13 and the federal highways.
By car to and from Dresden
From the city centre:
Orientation is provided through signs throughout the city. The highway B97 leaves the city northbound. In the district of Klotzsche, leave the highway and turn left into Karl-Marx-Straße, then after about 1 km right into Hermann-Reichelt-Straße (for the Dresden Airport Terminal).

Orientation is provided through signs throughout the city. Hermann-Reichelt-Straße / Flughafenstraße / Karl-Marx-Straße leads through the district of Klotzsche to the highway B97. Turn right into B97, towards the city centre.
Dresden Airport Terminal has an underground urban railway station. Modern shuttle trains connect the airport with the centre of the state capital, Dresden.
The S-Bahn station is on the lower level of the terminal building. It takes about 13 minutes to travel to Dresden-Neustadt station, and about 21 minutes to Dresden Hauptbahnhof.

Take the bus no. 77 from the airport. The bus stop is directly in front of the terminal entrance.
Get off the bus at the »Infineon Nord« stop and take the tram no. 7, direction Gorbitz. The city centre, Hauptbahnhof mainline station and many points of interest and interchange points are along the route of tram no. 7.
A single ticket for the Dresden tariff zone is Euro 1.70
(valid on S-Bahn, tram and bus). Bus no. 97 also calls at Dresden Airport, this bus goes to the Fontane Center, Käthe-Kollwitz-Platz (possibility to change to tram no. 7 towards the city centre) and Dresden-Hellerau.
Regional bus no. 425 connects the airport with the mask technology centre, AMD and the towns of Boxdorf and Radebeul.

There is a multi-storey car park for our passengers just opposite the terminal building. There are also three long-stay car parks at the periphery of the airport and a short-stay car park right next to the terminal drive-up bay.
In the multi-storey car park, you can leave you car protected from the weather and at a conveniently short distance from the terminal building. The multi-storey car park is recommended in particular for those who prefer a quick route to the check-in area or who come to the airport for a visit, a shopping expedition or dinner in a special atmosphere. If you are going on a trip and want to park your car at Dresden Airport for a longer period, we recommend the long-stay car parks nos. 2, 3, 4 and the multi-storey car park. If you just want to take your friends or family to the airport or to pick someone up, you may park your car in the short-stay car parks directly in front of the terminal building. If you come here in a rented car, you should park it on the marked, reserved car return areas of the appropriate car rental company in the multi-storey car park
There is a charge for the car parks. For long-stay parking, however, we offer parking vouchers valid for car parks 2, 3 and 4 and for the multi-storey car park. If you start your journey from Dresden Airport and intend to park your car for at least 7 days, the parking voucher saves you Euro 15 in parking charges.
There are reserved parking spaces for disabled persons in the multi-storey car park. Please notify us of any required assistance at the time when you buy your ticket.

The refurbishment of the restaurant area in the Dresden Airport Terminal began in February. By mid-March there will be a spacious, modern self-service Food Court covering some 400 square metres. The facility will seat about 100 people, and customers will have a panoramic view of the airport apron from their tables.
The new restaurant will be located on Level 2 and will take the place of the Fliegerhorst Restaurant and the former Burger King outlet. You will be able to put together your own menu from a selection of market-style food counters serving a range of daily specials, fresh salads, desserts and hot and cold drinks. From April, brunch – featuring a themed buffet and live music – will be served on the first Sunday of every month.
The Fliegerhorst Restaurant closed on 4 February for the renovation work. However, there are still plenty of places to eat and drink at the Dresden Airport Terminal. Café Lifestyle in the Departures hall and the bar in the Arrivals hall both have plenty of extra seats. Café Lifestyle also serves daily specials and fresh bagels.
The catering facilities at the Dresden Airport Terminal have been operated by Flair GmbH Dresden since 1 June 2005. Once the Food Court is open, Café Lifestyle and the bar in the Departures hall will also be refurbished. The work is scheduled for completion by the end of 2006.

The Dresden Airport Terminal is disabled-friendly. The entrance to the Terminal has no steps, and all levels are accessible by lift. There is also a lift linking the underground S-Bahn station with the Terminal. There are disabled toilets and telephones in the building.
Check-in, passport control and customs
If you need assistance, please let us know when booking your flight or at the check-in counter. We will accompany you to or from your aircraft and we will take care of your luggage for you. We have a special vehicle with a hydraulic lift available. We will also assist you through passport control and customs.
Parking spaces
There are short-stay disabled parking spaces immediately outside the Dresden Airport Terminal. These can be used free for a short time on display of a category aG or BI disabled pass.
For longer parking, please use the multi-storey car park. You can also park free there on display of a category aG or BI disabled pass.

Before departure:
Take a ticket at the barrier on your way into the car park. Park in one of the specially designated disabled parking spaces. These are on the ground floor near the pedestrian access to the Terminal building and on the first floor next to the glass pedestrian bridge to the Terminal. Place your disabled pass in a clearly visible position on your vehicle’s dashboard.
After landing:
After landing at Dresden Airport, please go to the Airport Information desk and ask one of the staff there to call the car park supervisor. The supervisor will let you out of the car park free of charge on presentation of your category aG or BI disabled pass and your car park ticket.

Dresden Airport: Looking back over a successful 2006 - Runway renovation takes off - Non-stop flights to London and more flights to Cologne Bonn from March
2006 has been an extremely successful year for Dresden Airport. More than 1.8 million passengers took off and landed in Saxony's capital city for the first time this year. Since the end of July renovation work has been ongoing on the runway, which is being extended to 2,850 metres - one of the biggest and most demanding projects in the airport's history. The Airport’s flight route network has been expanded: 70 destinations in 17 countries in Europe, northern Africa and western Asia were available in the 2006 timetable, with more new routes being added in 2007. From the end of March, British Airways will be flying non-stop to London every day, and Germanwings will be operating up to three flights a day to Cologne Bonn.
2006 at a glance: More passengers, more flights, renovations under way, runway being extended
On 13 December Dresden Airport set a new passenger record by welcoming its 1.8 millionth passenger. This mark had never before been crossed within one year. During the first nine months of the year Dresden Airport saw passenger numbers increase by 4.2% over the same period in the previous year. In September alone, the airport handled 203,898 passengers – the highest monthly figure in Dresden Airport’s 71-year history.
Dresden Airport expanded its network of flights in 2006. Dresden has been part of Air Berlin's Euro Shuttle network since the end of March, with flights to the Palma de Mallorca and Nuremberg hubs on up to six days a week. New foreign destinations are Athens, the Greek island of Samos and Asturias Oviedo in Spain. Cirrus Airlines increased the frequency of its flights to Zurich and now operates up to three flights a day between Dresden and the Swiss financial capital.
In March Friedrichshafen became the ninth German destination from Dresden. The Austrian airline Intersky operates this route - initially with three flights a week, with an additional daily flight added at the end of October. In addition to dba’s Dresden - Munich route, the airline has been offering flights between Dresden and Dusseldorf since May. Because of the great demand on this route, dba increased the frequency of flights to Dusseldorf, bringing the total number of flights between the capital cities of Saxony and North Rhine Westphalia to up to three a day. Lufthansa increased the frequency of its daily flights to Frankfurt to seven this year. In November Dresden Airport welcomed the 100,000th Lufthansa flight since 1990.
The first sod in the runway renovation and extension project was turned on 28 July. Since then the preparatory work has been progressing well. The contractors have relocated the peripheral road, the security fence and Schelsweg. New cable networks have also been laid and the foundations for the approach lights have been built.
A new helicopter hangar was built at the airport between May and December. This new 1,885 m2 hangar will house the three police helicopters and the German Air Rescue Service’s Eurocopter EC 135, also known as ‘Christoph 38’. The building will be officially opened on 9 March 2007. The four helicopters are currently housed in Hangar 285 in the north-eastern part of the airport grounds. EADS Elbe Flugzeugwerke also needs more space in Hangar 285 for converting two passenger aircraft to cargo planes in parallel in the future.
The safety regulations introduced on 1 January 2006 also led to some structural alterations. Among these was the redesign of the main entrance to the aviation security area. A 154 m2 security lodge matching the design of the Terminal was built. The two entrance lanes were completely roofed over to accommodate vehicle checks. Gate 14, as it is known, is used by employees, suppliers, contractors, fuel delivery services and other service providers. The new main entrance took six months to build and opened on 6 December.
In March the Airport, the Oberelbe Traffic Federation and Deutsche Bahn celebrated the fifth anniversary of the Terminal and S-Bahn line no. 2 with a special trip to the airport station, Saxony's only underground railway station. Since it opened on 25 March 2001, the new Terminal building has processed more than 9.5 million passengers. Almost 6 million passengers have travelled on the S2 (Pirna - Airport) in the same period. During the first six months of 2006 about 7,600 passengers used this line every weekday - an increase of 7% on the same period in 2005. Four additional trains have been running between Pirna and the airport every weekday since 10 December (bringing the total to 26 in each direction).
The services and catering facilities in the Dresden Airport Terminal have been revamped. The Relay newsstand on the arrivals level doubled its sales area in January and now sells a range of about 1,600 newspapers and magazines in its 130 m2 retail space. Wireless Internet access (WLAN) has been available at the Airport since February. The Chili Restaurant with its panoramic view of the runway opened in April. Every first Sunday of the month the Chili team serve brunch to the sounds of live music.
In 2006 the new Terminal was the setting for numerous events such as the Jugend forscht (Youth Researches) competition and the Dixieland Festival. A total of 4,000 visitors attended Neighbours' Day in June. Future holidaymakers flocked to the Airport to book their holidays during the three Travel Days. In the summer Opel presented the new Corsa to 1,000 journalists from 40 countries. In August there were air tours and guided walks on offer as part of the "Dresdenmobil" mobility week. A culinary journey round the world awaits guests at the New Year’s Eve party on the Gallery level. And on 11 May next year the Terminal will once again reverberate to the sounds of Dixieland music at the Blues, Boogie and Swing Festival.
According to an employee survey, which includes the employees of the EADS Elbe Flugzeugwerke, a total of 2,413 people were working for 119 companies at Dresden Airport on 31 December 2005. This is an increase of 4.5% compared with 2004. The companies of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG - Flughafen Dresden GmbH and PortGround GmbH - employ 327 people. The other jobs are shared among service providers, tenant firms and aviation companies.
Flughafen Dresden GmbH is expecting to have achieved sales revenues of €38.3 million by the end of the year - a 2.1% increase on last year. Two-thirds of the airport's total sales come from aviation and one third from non-aviation. This includes the sale of retail, restaurant, office and event space and the car parking business.

From 25 March business and leisure travellers will be able to fly directly from Dresden to London Gatwick for shopping, sightseeing or business meetings every day. British Airways will be operating a 147-seater Boeing 737-400 on this route. The journey time will be just under two hours.

Gatwick Airport has the quickest and cheapest connections to the City of London of any of London’s major airports. The Gatwick Express ( www.gatwickexpress.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.gatwickexpress.com ) leaves the Airport for Victoria Station every 15 minutes. Journeys on this route take 30 minutes. A single rail ticket costs £14, and a return journey £25. London Gatwick offers connecting flights to destinations all over the world. Its timetable includes more than 200 destinations on 90 airlines.
In February Air Berlin will be adding Friday and Sunday flights to its Palma de Mallorca route and Wednesday flights to its Nuremberg route. So there will be a total of three flights a week to the Mallorca hub and five to Nuremberg, both of which offer connecting flights to numerous holiday destinations and European cities. From 6 February this year there has been a non-stop Air Berlin flight to Madeira every Tuesday.

Germanwings is introducing a late flight between Dresden and Cologne Bonn on 28 March, bringing the total number of flights on this route to three a day and 17 a week. In March next year a 300-strong team start work on the new, 350 m longer runway in parallel to the old runway. Most of the construction work will take place during the night, although flights will have to be stopped on four weekends in June so that the 40 cm deep concrete surface can be laid. The completely renovated runway, which is being extended to 2,850 metres, is scheduled to be opened on 6 September 2007. The old one will be torn up and greened over afterwards. After completion of the new runway, a total of about €500 million will have been invested in extending and refurbishing Dresden Airport since 1990.
